><> Strength for the Weary ><>

In all honesty, these past two weeks have been stressful, overwhelming, and exhausting. Just as we envisioned, we have both been put to the test in different areas of our lives, yet what a growing experience it is has been so far!

Brad is continually advancing in his leadership-training program and will begin learning the steps of what Chick-fil-A refers to as “The Recipe for Service.” This upcoming week, he will shift his service from the kitchen to living out the true servant hood of Christ, as he interacts with the many consumers that pour in to Chick-fil-A each day.

As for me, my experience as a student teacher has been very enlightening as to what the realm of teaching truly entails. With that said, my respect for teachers has reached a whole new high! It has become so clear to me just how much teachers are not recognized for the many sacrifices they undertake within their service field each day and as committed missionaries to our children.

For me personally, this week has been trying and tiresome, however, I am learning to take one day at a time, and rely fully on God’s unfailing strength. I was reminded of that this week as I read this scripture from Isaiah 40:29-31.

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

I am so thankful for the blessing of our family, as both our parents have shown me nothing but love and encouragement.

And as for my devoted husband, he always finds a way to make me smile…

Starting the New Year off with a BANG!

Happy 2010 to everybody! With the New Year already underway, so is the start of our new adventure! Brad began working with Chick Fil A on Jan. 4th, and has enjoyed every moment of his new journey. From a wife’s perspective, there is not a doubt in my mind that this is where God has called Brad to serve! For the first time, Brad takes pleasure in going to work each day, and one can’t help but notice the happiness that drives his every action. So far, he has spent the majority of his time in the kitchen, learning everything there is to know, and will probably continue in this position for a few more weeks.

I, on the other hand, have begun my final semester, and will begin teaching in a 1st grade classroom this coming Wednesday at a school in Conroe, Texas. Being as Brad and I are still living in Katy for the next couple of months, we are having to endure early mornings, and of course, end with extremely late nights. In knowing the next few months would be trying, we were first determined to start the New Year off with a bang!

And in all reality, we did just that. I hope you find as much humor as I did with my first attempts at skeet shooting in the photos and videos I’ve uploaded below!

‘Tis the Season!

What a week! Many of us, more often than not, describe the week before Christmas as being chaotic and stressful. The parking lots are overflowing with cars; the malls are jam-packed with frantic shoppers searching for their last few gifts, and of course, there is the endless baking to be done in the kitchen, followed by never-ending dishes waiting to be cleaned. However, as we draw nearer to Christmas Eve and finally to Christmas morning, there seems to be an indescribable peace that fills the air, and all feelings of worry begin to diminish.

Being as this was our first Christmas together in marriage, Brad and I wanted to celebrate the Christmas season with both our families and continue with as many of our Christmas traditions as we could.

On the morning of Christmas Eve, Brad and I took pleasure in our first Christmas together as husband and wife in Katy, Texas. After a quick few hours, we loaded up our car and headed north to Magnolia, where we enjoyed the rest of Christmas Eve with Brad’s parents, as well as his grandparents and cousin. Christmas Day was spent in The Woodlands with my folks before we headed out later that night on our first road trip together. We traveled 500 miles to Hatfield, Arkansas, and celebrated our last few days of this Christmas season with the rest of the Fields’ Family.

All in all, this Christmas Season really opened my eyes to the expression of love within family, and I can only follow up by saying: “What a blessing, family truly is!”

Let us take a mere glimpse into our 1st Christmas together as we ‘Tis the Season, below:
